I Voted and Other Stories

Yesterday Michigan held their Republican primary. It was interesting to be part of such a heated competition—made me feel like my vote actually counted.

Our polling place is at the local middle school, which happens to be right across the street from the local elementary school. I plan to be spending a lot of time at the elementary school in the next few months because... I'm going to have a garden!

Here is the site:

You have to use your imagination a little bit right now, but once Spring arrives everything will turn green again and the soil will be tilled. Then Project Grow will mark the plots and we can begin growing. Count on seeing pictures!

In other news, we were supposed to have a monster storm complete with 4-6 inches of snow and thunder snow. Yup, didn't think that existed, did you? Of course I could hardly contain my excitement and I was very disappointed when this is all we got:

Yes, that's grass!

The cold front never arrived, so the snow didn't stick. And we didn't get to have the thunder snow either. I think I am not fated to have my blizzard this winter. Good thing we'll be here for a few more!

On Monday, to celebrate Veronika's birthday, Veronika, Anna, and I went to sing a little karaoke at The Blind Pig.

I've karaoke'ed in a booth before, but it was my first time in front of an "audience." Though, it was a Monday night during Spring Break, so there really weren't too many people. We had a lot of fun, but I do think I prefer the booth experience!

A very flash-y picture, but it was the best I could get.

Finally, we've been having some good eatin' lately. After the cooking class last week, I was excited to try my hand at making sushi. It took some prep work, but was overall not difficult. We had a sushi feast, complete with Miso soup!

Also, I made a second loaf of bread in my new ceramic loaf pan and it's wonderful! The bread simply does not fall. Sandwiches, here I come!

Gluten free sourdough loaf.
Happy Leap Day!
