Fun on the Weekend

This past weekend was a lot of fun!

On Friday, Veronika, Anna, and I celebrated Veronika's new car.

Veronika decorated the inside:

And then took us for a drive to a surprise location:

A real drive-in restaurant, right here in Ypsilanti! We ordered shakes and made sure not to spill a drop.

Veronika, that was a fabulous way to celebrate a new car. I hope you enjoy driving it and your new "freedom!"

On Sunday Veronika and I attended a cooking class held by the local JCC. Our chef for the evening was Lori Shepard, of Simply Scrumptious catering.

First on the menu: sushi!

Then we tried our hand at it. Veronika was in charge of our station and I think she did a superb job!

Next, Lori gave a demonstration on how to make Tomato Provençal, aka Stuffed Tomatoes.

The entrée was Cod Margarita in a lemon-wine sauce. First, Lori made the lemon-wine sauce with lots of garlic and fresh herbs. Then she coated the cod in flour and egg, quickly sauteed it, and poured the sauce over the whole thing.

For dessert, chocolate-dipped strawberries: simple and delicious!

All of the dishes, except for dessert, were gluten-y, so I did not partake in the tasting. But the smells were tantalizing and reports were that everything was delicious. I'm excited to try these recipes myself soon – I'll let you know how they turn out.

Lastly, I promised you pictures of my latest, cutest knitting project. A friend of mine is having a baby girl in about a month, so I wanted her to be able to accessorize in style. Petal Hat and "Baby Janes."

Have a good week!

  1. I love the little flower/pearl things on the booties--so sweet! ... Was the sushi gluten-y? If so, bummer! Sounds like good times. Glad you're enjoying yourself.
