This past week I was notified that the community garden plots at my location had been plowed and staked. I didn't expect to have the garden ready until the beginning of May, but the nice weather prompted a quicker preparation.
The stakes designate the different plots.
There are ten 25-by-30 foot plots set up in an L-shape. Some of the plots are halved and designated by "north" or "south." My plot is 5N and is either 12.5-by-30 feet or 15-by-25 feet, I haven't measured yet.
It falls between these markers and I've outlined the space in orange. (I'm guessing I have a 15-by-25 foot plot, by the looks of it.)
And, just in time, I received this birthday gift!
So today I went shopping. :-)
I'll still need a few more tools, fencing, and some plants, but this is an excellent start! Thank you Ima, Abba, Leor, Maia, and Etai for helping me with my garden!
The next step is to go pick up some free compost at the Ann Arbor recycling plant. We'll do that tomorrow since I have a shovel now. Then soil preparation and planting!!
Happy Friday!
