I tried a new recipe for parsley pesto with lemon the other day, and it was very nice and fresh tasting. So good, that our fur baby was ready to eat some too!

After the more substantial snow we had, the snow plowers created huge piles of snow all around town. Some of them have been pretty impressive and have even lasted through the rain.
The snow's resilience was probably helped by the cold temps we've been having, especially on the day I took these photos. Apparently, 31°F is cold enough to bring on negative zero degrees Celsius!
And, as knitting is my winter sport, I've been doing a fair amount. Here is my latest, completed project: cabled hat and matching mittens – for me! The hat is a pattern from Ravelry, but the mittens are my design.
We've also been keeping warm with our brand new flannel sheep – aren't they great?!
Yesterday we had a sudden snow storm. It was a little warm, so not too much snow stuck. But the wind and big snow fluffs made driving a little hazardous for the 20 minutes it lasted. And yes, I happened to be driving right at that moment. Here's what it looked like:

As a treat we tried a new Indian restaurant over the weekend. I was prepared to merely smell Jake's naan, but was so delighted to find that dosas are gluten free! What is a dosa? It's a crepe-like bread made from rice and garbanzo bean flours, common in Southern Indian cuisine. A friend of mine in Berkeley (Hi, Milo's mom!) introduced me to this dish when she took me to a vegetarian Southern Indian restaurant. The dosa is served with a filling, in my case, potatoes and onions, along with a number of different chutneys. And did I mention that it's GLUTEN FREE? Oh, and it's enormous and delicious. We'll definitely be going back.
And finally, the cold weather makes for beautiful sunrises!
Have a great week!
