Fall Holidays

Fall has arrived in Ann Arbor and it is beautiful just like last year!

I love to see the changes in the landscape and all the pretty colors on the trees.

Park by our house

We've even had our first frost and first hail! I can't wait for the more serious Fall weather!

Fall brings with it the Jewish High Holidays, so we've been busy with all of the celebrations. And what's a Jewish holiday without food? Here are some of the gluten free goodies I've been making:

Honey Cake for Rosh HaShana
Round Challah with Raisins
Apple Cake for Yom Kippur
Traditional Leek Latkes for Rosh HaShana

For the second night of Rosh HaShana we celebrated with our friends, Freddy and Veronika.

Veronika prepared an impressive spread, like always!

Remember the gefilte fish we made last year?
It was nice to see some friends too!

Yann and Julia
Julia and Hagit
We also just celebrated Sukkot and had a tour of a cool Sukkah display at the JCC. This display is called "Sukkah Arbor" and people build Sukkahs out of different materials. (Note: I don't actually know the names of the different structures, so I made them up...)

Inflatable Sukkah
Recycled Tubes Sukkah
Paper Spiral Sukkah
Hay Sukkah
Barely There Sukkah
Since we can't build a Sukkah of our own, I like to decorate inside the house and make our dinning room a faux Sukkah. Here's what I did this year:

Brown Paper Tree
Chains and Tree
Chains In the Dinning Room
And because I love chains so much, here's a present I decorated for our Sukkot hosts:

Ann Arbor is also celebrating Fall with their annual Oktoberfest. We got a look at the leiderhosen on a walk through Downtown.

And last, but not least, today I am 20 weeks pregnant and half way there! We had a checkup yesterday and everything seems fine – I'm even big enough now to be measured. Here's a picture of the growing belly:

Five Months Along
We are busy but doing well!

Happy October!
